Is the crime in Lima Peru High gives false information?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin

In the similar question the favorite answer is that Lima is safe. This answer is untrue. Why?

If you are not native to Peru you are a target. There are certain nationalities such as American that give off dollars signs to people in Peru. If you are poor here in the USA and can afford the flight to Peru, you are rich down there.

It states to check tourist sites for safety information. Again this is untrue. Tourist sites want to get your money and paint a pretty picture. They are not a reliable source for crime info.

Do a search on the internet and look for USA government or government associated agencies on dangers, alerts and tips on safety.

The post also said, to avoid bad areas. Lima is depressed by USA standards. The moment you walk out of Lima airport with the unfinished homes in view you will think you are in some of the worst areas of the USA. My point is looks are deceiving. I love Lima airport area and the surrounding area. But, as an American your a target. So is some other European nationalities whose reputation for wealth is better then Peru.

The safest way to travel to Peru is to know someone there or who used to live there. They can better direct you to avoid better areas. You as a citizen of the first world country will not know one depressed looking area from another. Once you get over the difference of what we consider depressed and what is not depressed there you can better judge by site what is a better area.

Miraflores, is rampant for crime for tourists. It is known tourists with money will be visiting there. So, it may be safe for a South American but for YOU, it is not.

It is just like NYC in the sense that if you walk NYC like you know the joint, and keep your wallet and money out of sight your safer then if you act like a tourist.
s/b avoid unsafe areas.

So, what is your question?

How many Obots are ready and willing to sacrifice for Obama and take "3 minute communist showers"?

Posted on July 11th, 2010 by admin

It’s come to this in Hugo Chávez’s Venezuela: The president is pleading with people to save water by limiting their daily cleansing routine to a 3-minute “communist shower.”

Really. This is just the latest indication of how badly Mr. Chávez continues to mismanage the economy of energy-rich Venezuela, which should be one of the most prosperous nations in the world to judge from its vast hydrocarbon reserves.

Instead of offering Venezuela’s 27 million people a better life, Mr. Chávez “Bolivarian socialism” has squandered the nation’s wealth on military armament, populist schemes and the creation of a patronage state, a prescription for ruin and misery.

As a result, the deterioration of basic services that has characterized his prolonged tenure at Miraflores Palace is becoming impossible to deny. Today, water rationing and power shortages have become recurring, frustrating features of daily life.

I’ll take an extra long shower tomorrow to make up for it. Can’t wait for Cap and Tax…er…Trade.

How safe is Peru? (20 Characters)?

Posted on July 8th, 2010 by admin

Miraflores, Lima, Peru. Can’t be THAT safe. I mean go down the road for 10 minutes and your in one really dangerous city, La Victoria. Then 5 minutes from that is Rimac River.
Rimac was and is the scariest/saddest place I have ever seen in my life…

I caught a taxi at Lima airport last year, another man jumped in, they took me and my girlfriend to the river area and forced me 3 times to withdraw money from ATM machines, they got $400USD, they would have got more if the Visa card had not maxed out for the day, that’s how safe it is. I tell this story as often as possible, this is my way of getting my revenge and it hurts the people of Peru and Lima. 2 men got $400USD from me but after 1yr of telling this story Peru has lost a lot more. The police did nothing, did not even look at the security videos from the banks. So I hope Lima is happy about this. If the govt of Peru give me my money back I will stop telling this story, sorry Lima but you need to get your act together and keep your city safe for foriengers.

Choque múltiple entre 8 vehículos en Miraflores: Cuatro personas salvan milagrosamente de morir

Posted on July 3rd, 2010 by admin

Lima, Peru travel advice?

Posted on July 3rd, 2010 by admin

I’ll be going at the end of August beginning of Sept for ~6 days. I’ll probably look for a hotel in the Miraflores neighborhood, but if there are better neighborhoods, please do tell or I’ll take advice for comfortable affordable hotels.

I’d like suggestions on friendly bars, clubs, social places where a foreign guy can meet people that will talk to him (possible show him around later).

I’d like to also see the Nazca lines. Will probably just fly out. Any advice on arranging that?

What other quick day trips do you recommend or off the radar things to do.

I wouldn’t mind volunteering someplace for a day. Any advice?
I can speak Spanish. I’m not fluent, but if somebody wants to be patient with me, we can have a good conversation in spanish.

i used to live in Miraflores, it is very nice. San Isidro and San Borja are also very nice. i think most hotels and tourist go more often to miraflores though. if you want to meet people, it would help alot if you speak at least some spanish. there are several restaurants and stuff all over miraflores, especially in the Larcomar mall in miraflores has alot of restaurants, and bars and even bowling and a cinema.

Have you been to Lima-Peru?

Posted on June 30th, 2010 by admin

I am going to Lima, and the first week (before going to Machu Piccu) I will be staying in Miraflores in Lima. I have already booked a hotel, but I don’t know who expensive or cheap every day things are… so for ex: do you know what a meal cost in a typical restaurant in Miraflores? Do you know what a bottle of mineral water or coca cola cost? Public Transport or a short taxi-ride? …in other words, how much do you think I will need for 6 days in Miraflores? (In Sol or US$)

lima is less expensive than europe or u.s., but alotmore than other parts of peru. i don’t recommend taking taxis in lima unless you know spanish. if you do, than it can be up to 20 soles, but for just within miraflores, it could be about 10-15 or 5 soles fro very short rides. the taxis from the airport to miraflores can be 50 dolars for a bigger van taxi, or maybe u.s.$25 for a smaller taxi, the airport taxis are the most expensive, but in the area of the ariport they are the best to take. for food, you can go to mcdoanld;s or pizza hut or something like that for about 12-15 (about u.s.$5) soles per person. if you want to go to a fancier restraunt, it will be alot more expensive. there are many international restaraunt chains in Lima (mcdoanld’s, burger king, t.g.i. friday’s, chili’s, pizza hut, and almost all the others). coca cola or botteled water is never more than 2 soles in supermarkets, or 6 soles for 2 liter bottles. if you are travling alone, i would estimate you would need about u.s. $300-$400 (not including hotel) with that you could eat out, maybe shop a little or see a museum. (if you want to eat in expensive restaunts, you would need more) i recomend going to the Larcomar on avenida Jose Larco, it has shops restraunts, bowling (add $25), and it’s right on the pacific ocean.
