Which hostel should I stay in Lima and Cuzco?

Posted on May 30th, 2010 by admin

I am traveling just by myself, so I would like to go a to place where I can meet lots of people and have some fun during my holidays.

I can tell you one NOT to stay in….I don’t remember the name, it may have been "Hotel Hawaii", it’s bright green. That is the worst place I’ve ever stayed in my life, I itched from the time I got there until I checked out early because I couldn’t take it anymore! They also have caged parrots outside on the first level. One that I can recommend is Los Momentos, that was bareable. They both are in Lima.

Where do I stay in Lima?

Posted on May 30th, 2010 by admin

The travel agency (from Paraguay) is offering me two places, one in Miraflores (Hotel Sol de Oro) and one in San ISidro (Los Delgines). Any help? I need to decide now!

Both are 5 star hotels, it all depends on the location you want to be. The Sol de Oro is a great hotel but it is in a very narrow street (San Martin) in Miraflores. That area of Miraflores wouldnt be my choice, I would rather go with Los Delfines (not los Delgines) in San Isidro, It ia also a 5 star hotel but overlooking Lima Golf club, lots of green around, very nice shops around and overall it’s in a nicer neighbourhood. The bonus is that you have 2 dolphins in site with shows, etc.

If you want to see pictures of both hotels go to Tripadivisor and browse them.

How big should my backpack be for trekking in Peru for 3 weeks?

Posted on May 30th, 2010 by admin

I am going backpacking in Peru for three weeks and backpacking around Europe for 2 weeks and need to buy a backpack. There are all different kinds of sizes out there – 55 liters, 60, 70 etc.

I am a very tall girl, so I can carry a bigger one, but it shouldn’t be heavier than 20kgs total.

Which size would you recommend?

Many thanks,
Jules

I would get the smallest one possible +1 size up to fit your needs. Smallest possible because you don’t want to lug around extra weight and space, but the size just above it to have a little bit of extra space in case you gain something or you are not in the mood to repack all your stuff as tidy as possible back into the bag.

Tip: You can do laundry so don’t pack for 3 weeks worth of clothes. On your trip see opportunities for laundry and plan accordingly as to how many day’s clothes you actually need to pack.

Which country are you in ?

If you are in England look at the Bradford small animal show website, which is held at the end of the month. Most breeds will be shown there, so there is bound to be a breed available.
